BREAKING: Indonesian aerospace firm to supply four transport aircraft to Nigerian Military

An Indonesian aerospace firm, PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI), has finalised a deal to sell four CN235-220 transport aircraft to the Nigerian military.

The landmark agreement was revealed during the recent Singapore Air Show.

The deal involves supplying four units of the CN235-220 multipurpose aircraft to Allied Aeronautics Limited (AAL), a local Nigerian company representing the Nigerian Army as the end user.

The CN235-220, known for its versatility, has previously been sold to other African countries, including Senegal, Burkina Faso, and Guinea.

The CN235-220, with a maximum take-off weight of 16,500 kg, can transport fully equipped soldiers and paratroopers or support medical evacuation and disaster relief missions.

PTDI emphasised the aircraft’s ability to operate from short, unpaved, and grassy runways, making it a sought-after choice for various military and humanitarian applications.

“This order from Nigeria will then underscore Indonesia’s role as a significant defence partner on the African continent and its capabilities in defence manufacturing.

“This new contract for Nigeria is also one of our strategic steps to penetrate the markets of South Asian and African countries,” the firm said.
