The All Progressives Congress (APC) has achieved a clean sweep in the recently concluded Niger State Local Government Council elections, winning all 25 chairmanship positions across the state.

The Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC) officially confirmed the results, describing the polls as “credible, transparent, and reflective of the people’s will.”

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Operations, Mohammed Liman, NSIEC said all Returning Officers had completed the collation and declaration of results in accordance with the Electoral Law and the Commission’s operational guidelines.

“After careful review, the Commission approved and ratified the results, confirming the duly elected chairmen and councillors who met all legal requirements,” Liman said.

APC candidates emerged victorious in all Local Government Areas, including Agaie, Bida, Kontagora, Lapai, Bosso, Chanchaga, Wushishi, among others. Newly elected chairmen include Sayuti Ibrahim Halilu (Agaie), Usman Mohammed (Bida), Mustapha Jibrin (Chanchaga), Lawal Yusuf (Kontagora), and Mohammed Lokogoma (Wushishi).

The results reflected significant margins between APC and PDP as their closest rivals.

For the councillorship seats, NSIEC ratified results across 274 wards, with APC securing 271 seats. PDP won two councillorship positions, one each in the Tafa and Rafi Local Government Areas.

Liman congratulated all elected officials, urging them to uphold transparency, accountability, and service to their constituents.

NSIEC announced that Certificates of Return would be presented to the newly elected officials on a date to be communicated to all stakeholders.
