
Nigeria’s former vice president and a two-time presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar on Tuesday arrived in Katsina State for the funeral of ex-president Muhammadu Buhari.
Atiku arrived at the Umaru Musa Yaradua International Airport, Katsina at about 1 pm on Tuesday, July 15.
He landed at the airport alongside the immediate past governor of Kaduna State and former minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasir El-Rufai.
Politics Nigeria also gathered that late Buhari’s vice president, Yemi Osinbajo also arrived in Kastina at about 12.40 pm.
Buhari’s body is being conveyed to Katsina and subsequently to Daura, his hometown from London.
His body is being accompanied by the vice president, Kashim Shettina following a directive from President Bola Tinubu.
The former president died on Sunday, July 13, at the age of 82 in a London Hospital after a brief illness.
He will be laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites in his compound in Daura, Katsina state on Tuesday, July 5.
Some other dignitaries present in Katsina to pay their last respects to the late Buhari include Nigeria’s First Lady Oluremi Tinubu; Niger Republic Prime Minister Ali Zeine who was received by the Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda; Minister of Budget Abubakar Bagudu, Information Minister Mohammed Idris; the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu among others
