Armed bandits have attacked Nasarawa Mainika ward in Gwarzo local government area of Kano state, abducting Alhaji Dan-Baba Nasarawa, father of a former ward councillor.
The incident occurred on Monday night when the attackers raided a private residence in the community.
Dan-Baba Nasarawa is the father of Anas Abdu, former councillor representing the ward.
In nearby Kwantara community, the gunmen shot one resident and abducted another person, as attacks become more frequent in the state.
Residents say the cases of abductions and shootings are increasingly becoming routine in the area.
The residents called on security agencies and the Kano state government to urgently step up efforts to protect lives and restore security in Gwarzo.
