Armed bandits stormed Dan-Ali, a community in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State, on Friday, disrupting Jummat prayers in multiple mosques.
The assailants, firing sporadically, caused panic among worshippers, forcing them to flee for safety.
A local source, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed the attack.
“We were at the Jummat prayer when we heard the shooting, and everyone ran. We couldn’t continue with our prayers. Fortunately, the Security Watch Corps in the area chased them away,” he said.
The source also raised concerns about the increasing insecurity in the area.
“We need reinforcement because the bandits are giving us a tough time in our communities,” he added, noting that for over a week, the bandits have prevented farmers from accessing their farmlands in Dan-Ali and neighbouring areas, including Gwarjo, Dangane, Tudun, Tasha Kadanya, and Tasha Biri.
He said several farmers have been kidnapped, leaving the community living in fear.
