The police command in Taraba has officially confirmed the abduction of Inspector Emmanuel Yaro in the state.
Unknown assailants suspected to be bandits reportedly kidnapped the inspector while he was on his farm on Sunday.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abdullahi Usman, Inspector Yaro was serving with the Kurmi division of the state police command. He had taken some workers to his farm in Gidan-Idi village before he was abducted.
As explained by the PPRO, Inspector Yaro had gone to a nearby village to buy food for his workers after taking them to his farm.
During his absence, kidnappers stormed the farm and held the workers hostage. Upon his return, he encountered the kidnappers, who released the workers and abducted the inspector.
This incident comes shortly after Governor Agbu Kefas called for increased security measures, including deploying more operatives and establishing a naval base in Taraba, in response to security challenges in the state.
