JUST IN: Bandits kill Traditional Ruler in Nasarawa

Some bandits have attacked Odu village in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on Friday.

It was gathered that the gunmen invaded the village on motorcycles and operated for hours. Also, the gunmen also murdered Amos Ewa Obere, the village head, and injured some residents of the village during the attack.

According to reports, the bandits shot the traditional ruler and sustained a serious injury in his stomach as a result of the gunshot.

He was rushed to Mararaba Udege General Hospital, for medical attention, but he gave up the ghost along the line.

Late Obere, was a retired ASP of Police, who, until his death, is the ward head of his community and other surrounding villages.

However, it was gathered that security operatives were yet to arrive at the village as at 7:30am on Saturday.

Bandits attacks and kidnappings have been on the rise in Northern Nigeria in recent times, leaving many deaths and displacement behind.
