Muhammadu Buhari, who recently concluded his two-term as president of the country, arrived in Katsina State after his tenure officially ended on Monday.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Mr. Buhari, accompanied by his wife, Aisha Buhari, his son Yusuf Buhari, and his daughters Hanan Buhari and Halima Buhari, touched down at the Ummaru Musa Yar’adua International Airport in Katsina via Air Force One, the president’s official aircraft.
Upon arrival, the former president was warmly received by Dikko Radda, the newly appointed governor of the state, and other prominent government officials.
Joining Mr. Buhari on the flight were his nephew, Musa Haro, and Hadi Sirika, the former Minister of Aviation.
Before the president’s arrival, two additional planes had already transported his belongings and certain family members to Katsina.
Following a brief 20-minute rest in the airport’s VIP lounge, Mr. Buhari, accompanied by his wife and son, was escorted by Mr. Radda and heads of security agencies in Katsina to a waiting helicopter for an onward journey to Daura.
Having been elected for the first time in 2015 and re-elected in 2019, Mr. Buhari officially handed over the presidential reins to Bola Tinubu on Monday morning.
