The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has announced a decline in crime rates across the country.
The police chief made the announcement while addressing reporters after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu and the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa.
Egbetokun attributed the success to improved synergy among security agencies.
According to Egbetokun, “The President has challenged us to continue working together to bring crime to the barest minimum. As Inspector General of Police, we have records of all reported crimes, and I can assure you that crime rate is declining in Nigeria.”
General Musa, also speaking at the briefing, revealed that measures are in place to tackle oil theft, stating, “Nigeria relies heavily on oil production, and our mandate is to restore full production. We’re targeting 2.1 million barrels per day, which is achievable.”
Musa warned oil thieves, “Their days are numbered. We’re coming after them, and we need to work together to achieve success. No single service or individual can do this alone.”
