The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has dismissed as false a report circulating in some media outlets that the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has passed away.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the DHQ described the report as “fake news” and urged the public to disregard it.
“The Chief of Defence Staff is alive, well, and currently carrying out his duties diligently,” the statement said.
The DHQ also advised the public to rely on only credible sources for information on the activities of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
General Musa was appointed Chief of Defence Staff by President Bola Tinubu on June 19 in an overhaul of the country’s security leadership.
