Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced that the construction of the long-awaited Fourth Mainland Bridge is set to commence by the end of March or April.
The governor shared this information during an address at the Lagos West Senatorial District Town Hall Meeting held at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Sheraton, Ikeja.
Governor Sanwo-Olu acknowledged the extensive work that has been done on the bridge and highlighted the challenge of securing financing for such a significant project.
He expressed the need for creativity in sourcing funds and assured the public of the government’s commitment to initiating construction within the year’s first quarter.
“We’ve done extensive work on the bridge. But we are at the crossroads of where to get the real financing for that kind of project. We’ll need to be very very creative.
“Our commitment is that within this first quarter, meaning that by the end of March or April, we should break grounds to start the construction of the Fourth Mainland Bridge,” Governor Sanwo-Olu stated.
The Fourth Mainland Bridge has long been anticipated as a crucial infrastructure project that is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance transportation connectivity in Lagos State.
