Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has been discharged and acquitted of medical forgery charges levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe of the Ikeja Special Offences Court delivered the judgement on Tuesday.
The court’s decision was based on the prosecution’s failure to establish a prima facie case against Fani-Kayode.
Justice Abike-Fadipe noted that the prosecution did not provide sufficient evidence to link the defendant to the alleged offences.
The EFCC had accused Fani-Kayode of using forged medical reports to deceive the Federal High Court in Lagos, where he was facing trial for an alleged N4.9 billion fraud.
