A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit filed by Senator Smart Adeyemi challenging the victory of Usman Ododo as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Kogi governorship election.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Justice James Kolawole Omotosho ruled that Adeyemi’s allegations of forgery and falsification of election results were not substantiated. He also said that Adeyemi had failed to prove that the election did not hold in all the wards of Kogi State.
The court’s decision was based on the evidence presented by the respondents, which included monitoring reports from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the police.
In his ruling, Justice Omotosho said that the court would not allow the will of a few to override the will of the majority. He dismissed Adeyemi’s case for lacking in merit.
Adeyemi’s lawyer, Femi Falana, said that he would appeal the judgment.
