The charges levelled against the former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose have been dismissed.
The charges were dismissed on Wednesday, July 16, by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
Acquitting the former governor of all the charges in his years of money laundering cases slammed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the court upheld Fayose’s no case submission made before it.
In its ruling, the Federal High Court held that the EFCC failed to establish a prima facie case against the former governor to warrant further defence.
The former Ekiti State Governor was arraigned by the anti-graft agency on charges bordering on money laundering and fraud alleged to have been committed during his tenure as governor.
However, the court in its judgement announced that the evidence presented by the EFCC in the matter was insufficient to sustain the trial of Fayose.
