A Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out a fresh suit filed against the #EndBadGovernance protesters and 26 other defendants, including top government officials.
The suit, instituted by 17 Nigerians, was dismissed by Justice Peter Lifu due to lack of diligent prosecution.
Justice Lifu on Thursday, expressed surprise that none of the 17 plaintiffs appeared in court or were represented by legal counsel. The plaintiffs, representing the six geopolitical zones, had sought an order to stop the protests, claiming their fundamental rights were being breached.
They alleged that the protests infringed on their rights to freedom of movement, human dignity, property ownership, economic and social development, and national peace and security. The plaintiffs asked the court to compel the DSS, IGP, army chiefs, and AGF to enforce their rights by bringing the protesters to order.
