JUST IN: Court Grants Sowore N10 Million Bail With 24-Hour Condition Attached

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted a N10 million bail to Omoyele Sowore, a former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) and publisher of Sahara Reporters.

At the bail application hearing on Thursday, January 30, Justice Musa Suleiman Liman granted bail to Sowore.

While delivering his ruling, the judge slammed a N10 million on the politician cum publisher.

The judge also ordered that Sowore must provide a surety in like sum.

The surety, the court said must have a verified property within the Federal Capital Territory.

In addition, Sowore is expected to submit his travel passport to the court and provide an affidavit of means.

The bail conditions given to Sowore follows his arraignment before the court over some comments and allegations he made against the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

He is facing 16 cybercrime charges filed by the IGP.

The publisher who has been in a legal battle was given a 24-hour time frame to meet his bail conditions.

However, in a swift move his counsel, Abubakar Marshal applied to the court to extend the time to enable his client to perfect his bail conditions.

The court further adjourned the ruling on the bail request to 1 pm on Thursday, January 31.
