Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has ruled that the judgment in the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the self-styled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), will be delivered in the defendant’s absence.
The ruling came on Thursday during the resumed trial, following what the judge described as Kanu’s unruly behaviour in court.
Earlier, Justice Omotosho had ordered that Kanu be removed from the courtroom after he disrupted proceedings midway through the session. The judge also dismissed three fresh motions filed by the IPOB leader, terming them unmeritorious.
As the court prepared to deliver the judgment, Kanu protested, insisting that the proceedings could not continue because he had not yet filed his final written address.
He further accused the judge of bias and claimed that Omotosho lacked knowledge of the law.
Following the disruption, Kanu was removed from the courtroom, and Justice Omotosho proceeded to deliver the final judgment in his absence.
