JUST IN: Deadly flood kills two people in Bauchi state

Two people have been reported dead with one other sustaining serious injury as a result of flooding from a downpour that lasted for several hours in Dalmari community in Tarmasuwa, Gamawa LGA of Bauchi State.

While confirming the incident to AIT, the village head of Tarmasuwa, Idi Garba said the incident which occurred on Thursday night was a result of the downpour.

Those killed include a 16-year-old boy as the building where he was sleeping with his brother collapsed though his sibling was rescued alive with injuries.

The flood also killed an old man in another apartment as it destroyed many houses and properties.

Idi therefore called on the Government, and well-to-do individuals to come to their aid as many of them have been rendered homeless with their food stuffs and valuable properties destroyed.

Gamawa Local Government and the neighbouring councils already affected by flooding including Shira, Giade, and Katagum in Bauchi North Senatorial District were captured in a report on flood alert this year by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency.
