A Nigerian singer, rapper, and songwriter, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, was confirmed dead on Tuesday evening.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the singer died at the age of 27.
Music executive Ovie, who confirmed the sudden death on his social media page, wrote, “Confirmed. MohBad is dead. Sad, sad day.”
The details surrounding his sudden death are still emerging, but a source from the singer’s team said he took a trip to the hospital in the early hours of Tuesday, September 12, 2023, for treatment, after which he was administered an injection.
According to the source, Mohbad passed out shortly after the injection was administered and, unfortunately, did not wake up.
He reportedly went to the hospital to treat an ear infection.
As of press time, the singer’s family and friends have yet to issue a statement on his death.
Mohbad was formerly signed to Naira Marley’s “Marlian Records” but left the label in 2022. He was best known for his hit singles “Ponmo,” “Feel Good,” and “KPK (Ko Por Ke)” with Rexxie, which was nominated three times for The Headies awards in 2022.
