Dino Melaye, a former lawmaker of the National Assembly has won a six-year-long legal battle with the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Inspector General of Police.
Melaye was acquitted in the twelfth and final case levelled against him by the Nigerian government before the Federal High Court sitting in Maitama, ABuja.
Justice Sylvanus Oriji who delivered verdict on the case cleared the former senator of two charges bordering on provision of false information concerning an alleged assassination attempt on his life in 2017.
In a legal battle which commenced in February 2018, Melaye faced accusations of false implication of Edward Onoja, the then chief of staff to the governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello, in the assassination allegation.
Reacting to the court’s judgement on his X account, the former lawmaker said he lives life just as it comes to him.
He posted, “I take life as it comes, but in all the vicissitudes of life, I trust in God only. He is always with the just.
“Justice served after six years. Justice delayed is never justice denied. God alone be praised. SEN. DINO MELAYE 12 – FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND IGP 0.12 CASES ALL WON BY GOD.”
