JUST IN: DSS Breaks Silence on Arrest of NLC President Ajaero

The Department of State Services (DSS) has broken its silence on the arrest of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Joe Ajaero.

A source from the secret police, who spoke on condition of anonymity, declined to comment on the arrest but instead requested that an official comment request be sent to the DSS email address.

This comes after Ajaero was arrested on Monday morning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja while attempting to board a flight to the United Kingdom for an official assignment.

The DSS source, who was contacted at 1:03 pm on Monday, said: “I have no comment on the arrest of Ajaero. Please send an official request for comment to our email address.”

The response is in line with the recent decision by the secret police to scale back on media visibility and focus on covert operations.

Last week, the erstwhile Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications, Dr. Peter Afunanya, was redeployed to continue his work elsewhere.
