Nigeria’s D’Tigress has made history by defeating Senegal 84-74 to win their fourth straight Afrobasket title.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the Rena Wakama-led ladies were dominant throughout the game, leading by as many as 15 points in the third quarter.
Senegal rallied late, but Nigeria held on for the victory.
The match was a rematch of the 2019 final, which Nigeria also won. This time, it was Murjanatu Musa who led the way for D’Tigress, with 12 rebounds and 2 steals. Ifunaya Okoro also had a strong game, scoring 16 points and providing two assists.
Interestingly, Wakama is the first female coach to win the Afrobasket title.
