JUST IN: EFCC Declares Yahaya Bello a Fugitive, Orders Arrest on Sight

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello a fugitive and ordered his arrest on sight.

This comes after multiple attempts to apprehend him were unsuccessful, and his current whereabouts remain unknown.

According to EFCC Spokesman Dele Oyewale, Bello is facing charges of money laundering, breach of trust, and misappropriation of N80.2 billion during his tenure as governor.

In an an interview on News Central TV on Thursday, the spokesperson of the anti-graft agency said it is working with local and international law enforcement agencies to ensure his arrest.

Oyewale said “the court of appeal is just to amplify the position of the commission and also to establish the fact that we are focused concerning his matter”.

“We are collaborating with both local and international law enforcement agencies to ensure Bello’s arrest.

“As it is now, Yahaya Bello cannot come into the open. He cannot make himself available anywhere because he has become a fugitive, and we all know the instruments of the law.

“Anywhere he is sighted, he would be arrested,” he added.

The declaration by the EFCC follows a Court of Appeal ruling in Abuja on August 20, 2024, ordering Bello to appear for arraignment on corruption charges brought by the EFCC.

  3. Toothless bulldog. Why should it take the EFCC months to get YAHAYA BELLO arrested?
    Something is wrong somewhere.

  4. Dead on arrival, is EFCC court that declares one wanted as fugitive, by the way over four months you haven’t arrested a man in his bedroom, and still talks about him in the day and in the night eats dinner with him. So you mean if this is Igbo you wouldn’t have claimed ceiling to bang into his apartment. Naija we hail thee.

  5. As a law abiding citizen and former public officer, he must go and clear himself before the public at court, on all alligations of corruption levelled against him by EFCC.

    1. It’s not about clearing self, Yahaya Bello is a fugitive, a thief and crook. He stole so much from the states, i believe the said amount is just a fraction of what he stole and many more to uncover. Nigerian governors and other politicans are the worse. It’s a norm for them to steal and get away with it ..I hope he gets caught soon and put away for a long time
