The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has emerged as the winner of the 2023 presidential election in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, polled 281,717 votes, Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) secured 90,902 votes while Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) garnered 74,199 votes.
The Labour Party candidate defeated his closest challenger with 190,815 votes.
This newspaper reports that the FCT has six area councils— Abaji, Abuja Municipal, Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje and Kwali.
Out of the six area councils, Labour Party triumphed in four, while the APC won two.
Apart from Abuja, Obi has also won states like Enugu, Nasarawa, Plateau and Lagos.
The 61-year-old is contesting for the presidency for the first time, under a platform not considered among the two main political parties.
Nigerians ought to bear in mind to whomever wins the casting votes for 2023 election must be congratulated, by virtue of a realistic patriotism that all citizens could feel the well-determined mind he has to develop his country.We love our mother land.
