JUST IN: Emefiele lands in Daura, to meet Buhari over Currency Swap Deadline

Nigeria’s Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele is currently in Daura, Katsina state to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari over the currency swap deadline.

POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that Emefiele has been in the headlines over his refusal to shift a the January 31st deadline given to Nigerians on the use of Old Naira notes. The Apex Bank has directed all banks to stop issuing old notes and only distribute the new naira notes.

However, there have been several agitations for an extension to the deadline from all quarters.The President who has been in his country home since last Wednesday will be meeting with Emefiele to discuss over the matter.

Buhari is in Daura for the commissioning of projects executed by the Governor Aminu Masari administration.

With the deadline less than 48 hours away, it was not immediately clear what he may proposed to the president during the visit.
