A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja, on Friday, ordered the remand of a former Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Ahmed Idris, over alleged N109 billion fraud charges.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that this was after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), arraigned the suspended AGF alongside three others – Godfrey Olusegun Akindele, Mohammed Usman and Gezawa Commodity Market and Exchange Limited.
Delivering her ruling, Justice Adeyemi Ajayi held that Idris should be moved to Kuje correctional facility.
Interjecting, Idris’ counsel, Chris Uche, pleaded with the court that due to the porous security nature of the Kuje correctional facility, his client should be remanded in the EFCC custody.
The judge declined and subsequently adjourned proceedings till the 27th of July for hearing of bail applications.
