JUST IN: Fasoranti reacts to Adebanjo’s ‘removal’ as Afenifere Leader over Peter Obi

Elder statesman, Pa Rueben Fasoranti has described as false a report that Chief Ayo Adebanjo was no longer leader of Apex Yoruba group, Afenifere.

POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that the group was sharply divided over its support for Labour party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi. Adebanjo had earlier declared that the group will support Obi while the group’s former leader, Fasoranti declared support for the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking on the matter, Chief Fasoranti, in a statement dated November 3, 2022 and signed by his personal assistant, Mr A. Abiola, stated that Adebanjo remains leader of the group.

He described the false report as a ‘design’ to cause confusion and polarise Afenifere.

“It has come to Papa R.F. Fasoranti’s knowledge that some sections of the media, especially the social media, have been ascribing to him false statements designed to cause confusion and polarise Afenifere.”

“I have Papa’s permission to say that he has not said that Chief Ayo Adebanjo is no longer the acting leader of Afenifere or that all future Afenifere meetings should henceforth be held at his residence in Akure. Papa’s main concern is the interest of the Yoruba in the complex political situation in Nigeria.”

“It is also his concern that Afenifere should survive in dignity and remain a purveyor of the interest of the Yoruba race. It is hoped that this information will be adequately circulated. Thank you.”

  1. This is a very deceptive caption. When do you guys start misleading journalism?
Your caption means Ayo Adebanjo had been removed and Pa Fasoranti reacted to it. The proper caption should be “Fasoranti reacts to Rumoured Adebanjo’s ‘removal’ as Afenifere Leader over Peter Obi.
    Please don’t be deliberately deceptive

    1. Plus, Papa’s main concern is not the interest of the Yoruba nation but selfish, personal interest. He lost his own daughter to this maladministration and he still feels supporting this nonsense of a people is his best line of action. Shameful Sir!
In case you missed it, he was seen praying for Tinubu in his house early this week. To him, Yoruba lo Kan
      Nonsense

      1. You can say anything you like about Baba Fasoranti but the fact remains that he’s defending the ethos of the Afenifere as a group. Afenifere has always consult widely before coming out on issues that has to do with Yoruba involvement and that is why they always come out uniformly on issues. If Pa Ayo Adebanjo had consulted Baba and other Yoruba leaders Baba would not take such step. But Chief Adebanjo had always been antagonistic of rising Yoruba stars. He did the same to Chief Bola Ige. He’s too authocratic on issues. Baba Fasoranti only stepped aside and that it is why they are still calling Adebanjo an acting leader.

        1. Adebanjo has been an evil man for a very long time. He’s ready to collect money and support devil

      2. Come what may, I think we should try to know how to talk to elderly man please. The way you talked to this Great grandpa and and respected elder state man is uncalled for my brother.

  2. It’s time to set aside ethnic and cultural differences in pursuit of a New Nigeria where things work. Obi lo kan! I’m Obidient!!!

  3. May God save Yoruba nation. When a Fulani man speak you hear and understand. When Igbo man speak you hear and understand, but when Yoruba speak you don’t understand. Adebanjo is still the leaders of afenferi , fasoronti is interested in Yoruba political interest. What do you want us to take. Vote for your political interest to keep Nigeria down.

  4. I think Tinubu is a Fulani proxy to continue with the damage Buhari has caused on the country. A Tinubu Presidency is a third term for Buhari. There is no decent democracy in the world where a terrible political party like APC can retain power judging from all barometers of measurement; tribal sentiments aside.

  5. Chief Adebanjo unilaterally took the decision to recognise and give his support to Peter Obi.
While Baba Faṣoranti with the support of many elders of the group to has “his concern that Afenifere should survive in dignity and remain a purveyor of the interest of the Yoruba race”.
It’s glaring who is leading the group in the right direction. Either acting or otherwise, Chief Adebanjo doesn’t carry majority of the group along on his decision taking, hence to the best of my knowledge, Baba Fasoranti should continue in leadership stride of the group.

    1. It’s most unfortunate that most of the write ups as seen from all the comments mentioned refer to “Yoruba nation” still defending nigeria neocolonialism trend.
Is there any how a ” Yoruba can be a “Nation” of hers under this present nigeria fulani oligarchy?? “NO” Never!! So what are we talking about! Sunday Igbogho stood out to suggest freedom for Yoruba and there were divisions among the people which stalled Igbogho”s zeal just as it’s happening in Biafra’s struggle.
Those fighting against the liberation of Yoruba nation and Biafra nation are agents of nigeria total enslavement program as scheduled by britain.
Sunday Igbogho and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu are the last hopes for both the Biafran nation and Yoruba nation as Sovereign Independent Nations without which the fulani”‘s total islamic agenda will be upheld perpetually.
Forget the in-house dispute of who is what he is or he is not and unanimously face your liberation struggle first.
Both the East and West including Middle belt are making perpetual God unforgiving mistakes by not taking serious the clarion call for liberation of our separate regions from fulani british sponsored feudal political strategy against non fulanis for their economic gains. We, either act now or remain perpetually enslaved an in Afghanistan where religious antagonists give no room freedom of worship.
Even as if stands now,are Yoruba Muslims truly recognised by the northern muslim feudalist. ” NO” so why this support for unfavorable forseen incompatibility. It’s time to wake up for our inalienable freedom rights.

  6. Grandpa not that we ignore your elderly view but need someone, who is coming to make things better for Nigerians.Grandpa change your mind to be with Nigeria youths, you will see the kind you dream for us.
