The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command says it has arrested four suspected armed robbers linked to violent crimes across Abuja and its environs.

SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson of the FCT police command, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Monday.

She said the suspects were arrested in Kagini, FCT, and Madalla, Niger state, during coordinated operations carried out between September 3 and 19.

They were identified as Ibrahim Shaibu, also known as Baba Godes, 28, from Zaria, Kaduna; Yusuf Salihu, 40, from Kagini, FCT; Awulu Nuhu, also known as Zabi, 25, from Keita LGA, Katsina; and Usman Yerima, also known as Dangrugru, 28, from Jimeta LGA, Adamawa.

Items recovered include two English pistols, 49 rounds of 9mm live ammunition, a grey Toyota Corolla (2012 model), and 10 Android phones suspected to have been stolen.

The police said the suspects confessed to involvement in several robberies, including the attack on Umar Y. Gowa at Hillside Estate, Dawaki, and the raid on Volcano Peak Court Hotel, Gwarinpa, where guests were robbed and Bashir Dauda, a DJ popularly known as DJ Bash, was shot dead.

The command added that CCTV footage captured one of the gang’s attacks, confirming their operations in Gwarinpa and Dawaki.

The suspects also named other gang members still at large, with efforts ongoing to apprehend them.
