The Federal Capital Territory Administration on Monday, May 26, sealed the Total Energies Fuel State in the Wuse area of Abuja.

Lere Olayinka, the media aide to the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike said officers of the FCTA stormed the fuel station to seal it up.

According to Olayinka, the fuel station located in Wuse Zone 3 was sealed over its failure to pay FCT ground rent. He, however, did not disclose the number of years for which yne petroleum company owed ground rent to the FCTA.

He wrote on X, “FCTA Seals Total Petrol Station,  Zone 3 Abuja Revoked For Not Paying Ground Rent.”

Other properties listed by Olayinka, which have been sealed by the FCTA include, an Access Bank building in the popular Wuse Market and the building housing the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) in Wuse zone 3.

According to Olayinka, FIRS is owing the FCTA ground rent of 25 years while Access Bank owes 34 years of rent.

This particular action by FCTA came barely one week after the headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was sealed.

Also, an Access Bank Branch in same Wuse was sealed over the same offence. This developments are part of a significant crackdown by the FCTA, which recently revoked 4,794 land titles across Abuja’s prime districts over non-payment of ground rent.
