JUST IN: FG gives update on Madagascar’s COVID-19 herbal remedy

The Federal Government of Nigeria has insisted that the imported herbal remedy from Madagascar used for treating Coronavirus will be subjected to tests.

National Coordinator of the Presidential TaskForce on COVID-19, Sani Aliyu, disclosed this during the committee’s daily press briefing on Tuesday.

Aliyu said President Muhammadu Buhari had instructed that the herbs be subjected to checks by relevant authorities in Nigeria.

“The Madagascar cure will be subjected to the normal regulatory processes that we have, to establish the drug’s efficacy and safety,” Aliyu said.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Chairman of the Presidential TaskForce, Boss Mustapha, had disclosed on Monday that President Buhari has directed the committee to pick up the herbal remedy.

According to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Madagascar’s President, Andry Rajoelina, gave Nigeria some of the product to cure the dreaded virus, adding that they were sent through Guinea-Bissau.

Mustapha noted that arrangements have been made to bring in the drugs.
