The Federal Government has met with Comfort Emmanson, the embattled Ibom Air passenger at the centre of a viral altercation at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The meeting was held on Thursday and had in attendance officials of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Emmanson, and her legal counsel.
The development was confirmed by Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, in a post on X.
Achimugu disclosed that the regulatory agency had earlier met with Ibom Air flight attendant Julie Edwards and the crew members involved in the dispute.
The NCAA, Achimugu said, is investigating the events of August 10, when tensions aboard Ibom Air flight QI0310 led to an airport drama.
“The NCAA’s directorates of Aviation Security, Operations, Licensing and Training Standards, Legal, and Consumer Protection are collaborating to ensure a proper conclusion to this investigation,” Achimugu stated.
The controversy, it is understood began after Emmanson allegedly refused to switch off her mobile phone as the aircraft prepared for take-off. A heated exchange with a flight attendant ensued, leading to a physical confrontation that later involved aviation security personnel after the flight landed.
