The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, is currently holding an emergency meeting with Cabinet Ministers in a bid to prevent the planned nationwide protests scheduled for August
The meeting, described as mandatory, was convened to develop strategies to avoid the protests.
In addition to Cabinet Ministers, other key stakeholders invited included Special Advisers to the President, Hadiza Bala-Usman and Bayo Onanuga, as well as former Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare.
The closed-door meeting aimed to find solutions to the grievances driving the planned protests. Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, is expected to brief the press on the outcomes of the meeting later.
