The Federal Government of Nigeria has ordered the immediate re-arrest of five foreigners who were initially detained.
The arrest of the foreign nationals working at Royal Castle Ceramics in Ogun State was ordered by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on Monday.
The NIS said the foreign nationals were earlier detained under the provisions of the Immigration Act.
According to the service, the nationals – Zhang Damou (46), Qian Jin (48), Tang Pan (41), Lin Jianfeng (52), and Guo Zhengheng (40) – were slated for deportation.
NIS noted that the wanted foreigners were allegedly involved in various roles at the said company.
In an internal memo issued on Monday, the directive for their re-arrest was based on infractions of sections 36, 38, 44, 56, and 105 of the Immigration Act 2015.
The directive is in line with the NIS’ standard legal procedures aimed at ensuring compliance with laid-down regulations.
In addition, the Ministry of Interior also announced that expatriate quotas and permits for Royal Castle Ceramics and other similar firms will be reviewed to strengthen immigration regulatory oversight.
This, the ministry said is part of broader efforts to improve enforcement and transparency within the country’s immigration system.
