JUST IN: Fire Guts CBN Office In Jos

A fire outbreak has occurred at the Jos branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria in Plateau State, POLITICS NIGERIA reports.

It was learned that the fire incident was averted after a few staff who were on ground to offer skeletal services quenched the fire and put the situation under control.

Confirming the incident, the Branch Controller, Duniya Yusuf, said the fire outbreak occurred when an air conditioner installed in the inverter room on the second floor of the building sparked and

Yusuf added that the fire only affected some rooms in the building, adding that the Fire Service brought the situation under control.

He said “You know we are under lockdown but still providing skeletal service especially to provide cash for ATM. There was a fire alarm and a few staff in the building moved out. Because of the thickness of the smoke, we had to call the fire service to assist. After the whole thing was controlled, it was discovered that it was from an air conditioner in the inverter room.

“No staff was hurt, no document was lost, normalcy has returned and the room where the incident occurred cordoned off.”

Also confirming the incident, the apex bank announced on its Twitter account that its branch in Jos witnessed a minor fire outbreak that was promptly contained.

It read; “Minor fire outbreak at the Jos branch of Central bank of Nigeria, promptly contained today, April 21, 2020.”
