Former governor of Oyo State, Rasidi Ladoja, has filed a lawsuit against Governor Seyi Makinde, the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Lekan Balogun, and other Ibadan High Chiefs.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the lawsuit, which was filed at the Oyo State High Court, challenges the recent amendment to the Chiefs Law in the state, which allowed the Olubadan to elevate ten (10) High Chiefs to Obas.
The state governor, Makinde, approved the elevation following the recommendation of Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun.
However, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadan, Ladoja, argues that the amendment is illegal and unconstitutional. He also claims that he was not consulted before the amendment was made.
The new Obas are Owolabi Olakulehin; Tajudeen Ajibola; Eddy Oyewole; Lateef Adebimpe; Biodun Kola-Daisi; Kola Adegbola; Hamidu Ajibade; Olubunmi Isioye; Bayo Akande and Abiodun Azeez while Ladoja, who had earlier rejected the elevation was absent at the ceremony.
