Former Italian Prime Minister Arnaldo Forlani, has died at the age of 97.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the news of his demise was announced by his son Alessandro, as reported by local media outlets on Friday.
Forlani, a prominent member of the Christian Democracy (DC) party, was born in 1925 in the Adriatic port town of Pesaro.
With a background in law, he steadily climbed the ranks within the DC, serving as party secretary and holding several ministerial positions, including Minister of Defence and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Forlani assumed the role of Italy’s Prime Minister from October 1980 to May 1981, leading the country during a critical period of political and social dynamics.
His tenure witnessed significant events and policy decisions that shaped Italy’s trajectory.
