JUST IN: Former President Buhari’s Minister, Kachikwu, Reacts to Bribery Allegations

Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, a former Nigerian minister of petroleum resources, has denied allegations that he was bribed by Diezani Alison-Madueke, a former minister of petroleum resources under Former President Goodluck Jonathan.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Kachikwu was mentioned in the criminal charges against Alison-Madueke, who is accused of receiving bribes in the form of cash, luxury goods, flights on private jets, and the use of high-end properties in the UK in return for awarding oil contracts.

However, Kachikwu said in a statement issued on Thursday that he never met Alison-Madueke or any of her associates and that he was never offered or received any bribes.

“I wish to state that I never met any of the accused before, all through and after my public service period and was not offered nor received any bribe nor did any of the accused persons receive any business favours while I served,” Kachikwu said.

Kachikwu served as NNPC GMD, minister of state for petroleum under Former President Muhammadu Buhari, president of the African Petroleum Producers Association and president of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
