Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State are in a closed-door session in Abeokuta.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the meeting, which started around 11:58 a.m. at Mr. Obasanjo’s Presidential Library, is believed to be the first of its kind between the governor and the elder statesman.
Both Obasanjo and Abiodun are from Ogun State. However, Mr. Abiodun is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, while Mr. Obasanjo, a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party, is said to have worked against the APC presidential candidate in the February 25 election, Bola Tinubu.
Mr. Tinubu, the current president, eventually defeated Mr. Obasanjo’s preferred candidate, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, and other candidates in the election.
The agenda of the meeting is currently not disclosed.
