JUST IN: Fresh Issues Raised in FCT Residents’ Suit to Stop Tinubu’s Inauguration

Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been directed by a Federal High Court in Abuja to address issues of jurisdiction in their bid to stop Bola Tinubu’s inauguration as president.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Justice Inyang Ekwo made the directive on Monday, asking the residents and voters in the FCT to establish their locus standi and jurisdiction while ascertaining if there is a similar matter before the presidential elections court.

The residents represented by five persons are seeking to restrain the Chief Justice of Nigeria and any judicial officer or authority from swearing in any candidate in the February 25 presidential election as president or vice president.

They also want any declaration or issuance of a certificate of return to be suspended unless a candidate fulfills the conditions in Section 134(2)(b) of the Constitution.

The case has been adjourned to May 18.
