Weeks after the tragic attack in Okuama, Delta State, where 17 military personnel lost their lives, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has visited the affected community.
The governor stated that his visit was to reassure the inhabitants of their safety and promised the return of those who fled in fear after the incident.
Joined by government officials, Governor Oborevwori emphasized that innocent citizens should not bear the brunt of violence they had no part in.
The attack, which occurred in March, claimed the lives of the Commanding Officer of the 181 Army Amphibious Battalion, two majors, one captain, and 13 soldiers, sparking widespread condemnation and outrage.
The ensuing search stretched from Delta State to Bayelsa, with the military declaring several individuals wanted in connection to the ambush.
Okuama has remained inaccessible for weeks as security operatives intensify efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice.
