Shehu Sani to Tinubu: Don’t let Wike rename ICC after you

Shehu Sani, former senator representing Kaduna central, has called on President Bola Tinubu to reject the renaming of the Abuja International Conference Centre (ICC) in his honour.

On Tuesday, Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), announced that the facility had been renamed “Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre”.

Wike made the announcement during the inauguration of the upgraded complex in Abuja.

He also disclosed that other halls within the facility had been renamed after Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and former Chief Justice of Nigeria Olukayode Ariwoola.

Reacting to the development, Sani said the conference centre was built by former military Head of State Ibrahim Babangida and should not be renamed after Tinubu.

“The International Conference Centre Abuja was built by IBB. The president should reject renaming the place with his name,” he wrote in a Facebook post.
