Gunmen stormed a burial ceremony in Ezinifitte, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra state, and caused serious panic as mourners and other invited guests fled.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that according to one of the invited guests, the ceremony, on Sunday, ended abruptly due to the gunmen’s invasion.
The lawbreakers were said to have stormed the ceremony venue in seven Sienna vehicles and started shooting indiscriminately. The shooting caused everyone to run into the bush and others ran into a nearby compound. No death or injury was recorded.
“They smashed all the cars in the compound and took some away, after they had set the house ablaze, but thank God, the house was not totally burnt, as people came and quenched the fire when they had left,” the eyewitness said, according to Daily Trust.
Meanwhile, the Anambra State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, said he has no information on gunmen invading any community in Anambra state.
