Suspected Fulani militia have reportedly killed nine people in Ruji and Atakjeh villages of Atyap Chiefdom, located in the Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the attacks occurred on Wednesday night, with a young man allegedly butchered in Ruji village, while eight others were killed in Atakjeh village. Three people who were injured have been taken to the hospital for medical attention.
The National President of the Atyap Community Development Association (ACDA), Dr. Samuel Achi, has confirmed that the situation in Atakjeh village is currently very tense.
Samuel said, “surprisingly, there are security personnel very close to the village where the eight people were killed but they could not rescue the villagers from the attackers.
“The attackers went to the village and carried out their mission and went away without any intervention from the security.”
“As l am talking to you, one is not sure of the number of those killed and injured but at the moment, we have eight persons killed and three others injured in Atakjeh village.
“Those who received various degrees of injuries have been taken to the hospital for treatment,” he lamented.
Reports has it that this is not the first time such an attack has taken place in the area, as a nearby village, Unguwan Wakili, was also attacked recently, resulting in the deaths of 17 people in the Atyap Chiefdom.
