Gunmen have killed a police officer and a vigilante in Sokoto State. The incident occurred around 3 am on Monday, September 2, at Kwanan Milgoma, along the Sokoto-Bodinga road.
A senior police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the attack, revealing that the gunmen, driving a white Hilux, ambushed the operatives at a checkpoint.
“The gunmen met the operatives at a checkpoint and opened fire, killing one policeman and a vigilante. They then fled with two AK-47 rifles,” the officer said.
The bodies of the deceased have been transported to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital’s mortuary.
At the time of this report, the Sokoto Police Command’s Spokesman was unavailable for comment.
