Kidnappers have released Dahiru Nyako, elder brother of former Adamawa State governor, Murtala Nyako, who was abducted on Wednesday night.
It was widely reported that unknown gunmen kidnapped the 90-year-old at his residence in Mayo-Belwa town However, Dahiru was released by his captors around 11:00am on Thursday.
Confirming his release, the spokesperson for the state police command, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, said the kidnappers willingly released the former Adamawa governor’s elder brother.
He said, “I have been briefed of the positive development that the kidnappers have released the old man.
“After they abducted him, they took him to a nearby hill but they decided on their own volition to release him.
“He has been reunited with his family since and the police is undaunted by the release.
“Notwithstanding, our men will continue the chase until the perpetrators are apprehended and made to face the full wrath of the law.”
