President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has queried the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, over the failure to apprehend perpetrators of last Friday’s gruesome attacks in Benue State, which left nearly 200 people dead in Yelewata, Guma Local Government Area.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting at the Benue Government House on Wednesday, Tinubu spoke on the lack of arrests in the aftermath of the massacre.
“Police, I hope your men are on alert to listen to information. How come no arrest has been made? I expect there should be an arrest of those criminals,” the President told the police chief.
The President, who visited the state to commiserate with victims and assess the security situation, also addressed the broader security establishment, including the military and intelligence agencies, urging coordinated efforts to bring the attackers to justice.
“Christopher (the Chief of Defence Staff), you have given much. I watch your comments, you can’t be tired of staying in the bush. Oloyede and the Air Marshal, we thank all of you, but we need to keep our ears to the ground, let’s get those criminals, let’s get them out. DG NIA, DG SSS, retool your information channels and let’s have tangible intelligence so that this will not occur again,” Tinubu added.

What do we expect from Mr. President? It is good but not good enough. The Govt. can get the criminals if they want. What happened in the case of Student Doctors on Transit to Enugu? The Govt. swang into action and they rescued them unhurt.

We definitely expect so much from Mr president that shows to us that over 200 life’s is worth more than just query if any arrest has been made.
Firstly the incident did not occurred on the day of his visit, so asking that question at that point in time and place is politing to me.
Secondly it shows that our politicians don’t cares about any of us but just power and, money. It is gross neglence to from the side of the Governor of Benue state that even after scores are been killed he is not made demands from all securities heads , he is rather waiting for Mr president to spend feed his failure to protect life’s and property.

Am tired of all this killing. There is nothing we can do about it. All this politicians have hand in all this killing. If not what is holding the police and the military back from arresting or killing this animals. A lot of things is showing how the politicians are mingle with them in the bush and no arrest was made. Mr president can’t do it because they are the one that put him there if not all this will have stop.
Now that the President have given order to arrest the criminals,hope the security agencies will swing into action . Very unfortunate.

The issue there is that,the suspected herds men responsible for the attact,they are bush men how can you arrest someone you dont even know?Best solution is to imput securities allover the area for safety also put to end the patrol of the herdsmen.
