JUST IN: Chieftain and Former PDP Governorship Aspirant in Akwa Ibom is Dead [PHOTO]

Former Akwa Ibom State governorship aspirant and prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bassey Inuaeyen, has passed away.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the untimely demise of Mr. Inuaeyen, who hailed from Ini Local Government Area of the state, occurred on June 30 in the United States after a brief illness.

The Paramount Ruler of Ini Local Government Area, Udoette Edon, announced the sad news of his passing. Known as the political leader of the region, Mr. Inuaeyen held the esteemed position of “Obong Iberedem” within the Nkari Clan Council of Chiefs.

“On behalf of the Nkari Clan Council of Chiefs, I formally announce the death of our distinguished council member, the Obong Iberedem of Nkari Clan, Obong Bassey Inuaeyen,” stated Mr. Edon during a meeting of the group.

Mr. Edon went on to highlight the late politician’s significant contributions as a respected community leader and unifying force, which greatly aided the development of the area. A portion of the meeting, where the announcement was made, was shared on Facebook.

This newspaper learnt that the chairperson of Ini Local Government Area, Israel Idiasim, also confirmed Mr. Inuaeyen’s passing.

Prior to his death, Mr. Inuaeyen had an accomplished career as a real estate developer and served as the Chairperson of Agritec Holdings Limited.

During the meeting of the Nkari Clan, Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Nyaudo Ndaeyo, commended the late politician as a philanthropist who generously sponsored numerous students from the region in various tertiary institutions within and beyond the state through his scholarship program.
