Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed rumors circulating on social media that he collapsed last week.
He described the reports as false and an attempt by political opponents to mislead the public.
Speaking on Thursday after inspecting four ongoing projects in the FCT, including the International Conference Centre (ICC), Wike called the claims “baseless” and accused those behind them of trying to gain cheap political points.
In his words: “I did not collapse. I didn’t show any sign that I have any health problem. Let me tell you what happened, the former head of service of Rivers State Government came out to the let the public know what’s going on, how they planned to bomb the House of Assembly Complex and how they planned to attack National Assets.”
“In order to divert attention from people not focusing on that, they had to bring one rumour that they(sic) have been flown overseas.”
“There was never a time i collapsed and there was never a time i was flown overseas but you see the day Mr. President broke Iftar, I was there.”
He added, “It’s only God that says when you will die not any human being to say you will die today or tomorrow.”
