The Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has said that his journey in politics has not been very easy.
Wike, in a recent interview with Channels Television, revealed that he has encountered various difficulties in his journey adding that he was almost assassinated when he was chief of staff to the Rivers state Government in 2007.
He explained that getting power was not an easy task adding that it’s not meant to be ‘given’ but that it has to be fought for.
In his words; “If you remember when i was the Chief of Staff, on the 3rd of December 2007, i was nearly assassinated.”
“I was a threat, unknown to me. I have never become any of this easy”
“My journey in politics has never been easy. I have never one day say i want it on a Platter of Gold. Infact when you get things on a platter of gold, it doesn’t work well.”, he said.
Wike is currently battling to the secure the 2023 presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
