The sole administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibot-Ete Ibas (retired) has appointed Ibibia Lucky Worika as the Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG).

His first appointment since assuming office after the State of Emergency declared on Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu, Ibas said Worika’s appointment is with immediate effect.

In a statement issued in this regard, the Rivers Sole Administrator said Worika’s appointment comes after due consideration of his credentials, experience and his capacity to deliver on the job.

Ibas said, “Professor Worika’s appointment reflects the Administrator’s commitment to harnessing the great human capital of the Rivers’ people to work with him to achieve the much-needed Peace, Stability and Security.”

Worika, a Professor of Law and PhD holder from the University of Dundee, United Kingdom has served in various capacities across academia, international organizations, and government advisory.

His appointment comes shortly after the resignation of the Rivers State Head of Service, George Nwaeke.

In another statement, Ibas said his administration appreciates the contributions made by Nwaeke in the short period he was appointed the state’s sole administrator.

“In the interim, Dr Mrs Iyingi Brown, Permanent Secretary Welfare, Office of the Head of Service has been appointed in acting capacity until a new Head of Service is appointed,” he said.
